Freyan Byram Avari
Freyan Byram Avari is the Chief Executive Officer of R.B. Avari Enterprises (Pvt) Limited which is one of the leading agrochemical distribution companies in Pakistan. He also serves as a Director on the Board and is a member of the HR and Finance sub-committees of the Board.
RBAE was incorporated in the year 1968 with the goal of achieving excellence in the area of agriculture by increasing the quantity and improving the quality of Crop Protection Products being used in Pakistan. Over the years RBAE has introduced products from numerous multinational companies such as Chevron, Bayer and
DuPont to the Pakistan market. RBAE have setup a state-of-the-art formulation and packing facility in the port city of Karachi with another midcountry facility being completed in Multan. After holding various roles within the Group including sales, product development and finance, Freyan is currently working as the CEO to take the company into a strong growth phase which will help establish itself as the leading player in Pakistan.
Freyan also serves on the Board of RB Avari & Company which is the family office of the Avari family and is mandated to invest in real estate, equities and other investments which generate significant long term returns for the family. The family office currently has assets under management of over US$10 million.
In addition to his role with the family business, Freyan also serves as an Independent Director on the Board of Directors of EFG Hermes Pakistan. EFG Hermes Pakistan offers securities brokerage and research services to institutional and individual clients as well as investment banking advisory services to Pakistani corporations and foreign investors.
Freyan is a graduate of Karachi Grammar School and King’s College, UK.
Usman J. Mirza
Usman has over seventeen years of global private equity and investment banking experience. In 2022, Usman co-founded Axxiom Ventures, an Investment Management firm which aims to achieve attractive long-term returns for its investors by investing in alternative asset classes including Private Equity, Venture Capital, and Real Estate in Pakistan.
Prior to Axxiom, Usman served as the Managing Partner of Lakson Investment’s Private equity arm and has been responsible for setting up the firm’s Private Equity business. At Lakson Investments,
Usman helped the firm position itself as the leading private equity player in Pakistan primarily focused on the healthcare space.
Preceding Lakson Investments, Usman spent a year at Ithaca Capital where he was the Director of Portfolio Management and responsible for
managing a number of investee companies in the Logistics, FMCG and Power sectors.
Prior to Ithaca Capital, Usman spent over 9 extensive years with The Abraaj Group. At Abraaj, Usman was involved in the entire life cycle of private
equity investing and management from fund raising, sourcing and executing transactions to portfolio management and exit strategies.
Starting his career as a Financial Analyst with Scotia Capital in New York, Usman has worked with manifold Financial Institutions and multiple
Industry groups around the globe and particularly in the United States.
He holds a BSc. in Finance and Actuarial Sciences from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business.
